Radicalization — What Media and Government Are Telling Us About Muslim Mental Illness

December 6, 2015

In their zeal to avoid appearing “Islamophobic,” the media and some government hacks have revealed some very disturbing characteristics of the members of that political ideology (representing itself as a religion) known as Islam, but referred hereinafter as Mohammedanism. This revelation may just save lives, intentionally or not, if enough people pay attention.

Unwittingly, the media whores and government hacks have offered us convincing evidence of two dangers inherent in that 1400-year-old supremacist death cult, and, specifically, in its members who walk among us in the Western world.

First, they have explained to us that a significant minority of that cult are so mentally unstable and volatile that merely knowing that “infidels” intend to display unflattering drawings or paintings of their “prophet,” can send them into a mass-murdering rage. They told us that about the carnage at Charlie Hebdo, and the attack in Garland, Texas.

Have MSNBC, the New York Times, the Department of Justice, or other arbiters of truth and acceptable behavior ever warned us that Christians, Jews, or — let’s say, Buddhists — are so close to the edge of insanity that they might be provoked to bloody violence by some image? Not that I can recall. But they DO say that about followers of Mohammad. We are supposed to understand that, and act accordingly.

Yes, we are constantly reminded that French cartoonists who caricatured the “prophet” Mohammad were at least partially responsible for their own murder, by Mohammedans.

We are also to believe that the rifle-toting Mohammedans who attacked an exhibit of art portraying their “prophet” in Garland, Texas, should be at least partially excused from blame, because this primitive, impulse-driven cult of killers can be set alight by speech or art work.

So, we have mental instability, manifesting itself as murderous rage, as an important characteristic of some segment of this billion-strong cult masquerading as a religion, all verified to us by credible sources in the media and government.

Second, we are reminded continually that some segment of the above group are so gullible and suggestible that they can be “radicalized” by things they read online, or by literature they pick up at a mosque, or by contacts they make during an overseas trip to the birthplace of this cult, the Middle East. Before reading this stuff, seeing the gory videos online, or attending the fiery sermons of apocalyptic preachers, they are just like the rest of us – minding their own business, going about their lives, being productive, intelligent, considerate members of our communities.

Then, they are exposed (“radicalized,” the government always says) to this propaganda, and suddenly, they are transformed from “moderate muslims” to murdering jihadis.

Their minds are no longer their own. They are radicalized.

They are no longer capable of rational thought, and they have no appreciation whatever of the value of life outside their own cult. They are willing and eager to die in the act of killing “infidels.”

And, importantly, as a result of this “radicalization,” they are no longer in control of their actions, and their victims must take a share of the responsibility for their own suffering at the hands of these zombies. Poor, gullible, volatile savages; they are slaves to jihad. It can’t be helped. Western media said so.

Your radicalized Mohammedan neighbors look, superficially, like the neighbors you once thought you knew. They seem to live in the same house you walked by, exchanging pleasantries or a friendly wave. But they are no longer so friendly.

They have the same faces they had when they first started working alongside you at the office – except, of course, for that new growth of beard that is never trimmed, and the expression that is often contorted by suppressed anger. Their greetings are more brief – even curt — less cordial, and much more likely to metamorphose into argument, seemingly without reason or provocation.

Their children – especially the male children – look at you with a combination of fear, contempt and suspicion that makes you queasy, and more than a little sad.

You seldom see the adult women or female children, after the transformation, because they are covered when in public, and only rarely leave the house, these days, unless escorted by an older, related male. The escorts rarely speak or make eye contact, apart from an angry glare that dis-invites conversation.

What a remarkable transformation. Thanks to the media and our Progressive friends in government, we know that these people seem normal, but they are gasoline-volatile. They seem intelligent, but they are sock-puppet gullible.

News anchors and Secretaries of State have told us so. They are like a glass of water that may, at any time, without warning be transformed into a vial of explosive liquid.

The transformation is so complete that we wonder why we never saw its potential before. We wonder if it was there, all the time, and just needed the right combination of events to bring it to the surface.

We are right to wonder.

And we have the media and our government to thank for explaining this apparent paradox. Now, we know: the Mohammedans around us are gullible, manipulable, volatile and subject to kill those unfortunate enough to be nearby, under the right combination of conditions. There will not be much warning, if we aren’t watching for the signs. If it happens, it is at least partially our fault, for being too close to Ground Zero, and for being ourselves.

Thanks for the heads-up, CNN, MSNBC and Obama. Even though it was almost certainly accidental, you may have saved our lives.

Hard Choices Versus Bad Choices — There IS a Difference

August 10, 2012

Do I take my chances on the fire escape, jump to my death, or quietly barbeque when the fire gets there? I’m trying the fire escape. (Photo courtesy of Wikipedia.)

Here’s what I think about having to vote for Romney:

I can just throw myself out the window of my burning, ninth-floor hotel room, arriving with a splash on the pavement, or on the hood of some unlucky illegal alien’s cab.

I can try the rickety-looking fire escape, MAYBE making it to the ground at less than the speed dictated by the acceleration of gravity on a falling body, MAYBE living another day.

OR,  I can wait for the fire to cook me alive.

Rotten choice? Hell, yes.

Hard choice? Hell, no. I’m trying the fire escape — Romney 2012.

It’s About Time for a Reichstag Fire

July 10, 2012

The Reichstag burns, and Hitler decides “no crisis should go to waste.”

One of several reasons I am frequently annoyed with Glenn Beck, is his obsessive penchant for admonishing his listeners to disavow violence, utterly and unconditionally.

While I think I understand his motivation – to avoid giving the Obama administration any pretext to violence to “restore order” – I tire of the implication in Beck’s admonitions that his position is morally superior to that of ordinary citizens who acknowledge a rational limit to their willingness to submit to coercion from Muslims, Occupiers, union thugs or any other pressure group used by the Left as a weapon against us. .

It was obviously very important to Beck to discourage his listeners from any impulse to gather up the “pitchforks and torches” and march up to the Frankenstein castle, demanding that the authorities hand over the monster. I excused that the first few times, but after a few dozen, I started to resent the implication that I was some volatile, redneck Timothy-McVeigh-type who was a hair’s breadth from taking up arms in violent insurrection

I have not been recruited into revolutionary violence by Glenn Beck, McVeigh, or anyone else. I do not feel on the verge of becoming a serial killer, a guerrilla, a bandito, or a freedom fighter, toting RPGs and EIDs.

Thanks for caring, though, Glenn.

I do not, however, ignore the possibility that the Obama regime may metastasize on very short notice from a wanna-be socialist utopia to an iron-fisted, Communist dictatorship.

The magnificent socialist utopian experiments of the 1900s killed more people and wasted more wealth and resources in a single century than all the socio-political systems tried in all the rest of recorded history (with the possible exception of the first thousand years of political Islam – accurate stats on that are hard to come by). There is no reason to believe that this latest bunch of unaccountable, self-righteous, arrogant ideologues would do any less damage than their failed predecessors.

That would not keep them from trying, of course.

But, really, what makes anyone think an armed uprising among some serious believers on the Right would be necessary to provide the pretext for an Obama dictatorship? Have you not read about the Reichstag Fire?

One man could do it.

A lone Dutchman, Marinus van der Lubbe, was caught at the scene of the Reichstag fire, confessed, and described in detail his procedure for spreading fire in the old structure. British intelligence agent Denis Sefton Delmer,  wrote that he was on the scene at that fire in 1933. He reports reports his conclusion that van der Lubbe was plausibly the lone arsonist responsible for the destruction of the historic German parliament building. Delmer says senior fire investigators reenacted the attack following van der Lubber’s detailed account, and found that one man could have quite easily done the deed. Other evidence gathered after the fire tended to support the “lone arsonist” theory.

The truth became less and less important, even before the smoke cleared. The Nazis pounced on the event to accuse the Communists of committing the attack as the signal to begin a concerted, premeditated terror campaign, including “dynamiting, incendiarism and mass murder” all over the country.

The Soviet Communists fabricated and spread legends to convince the public that in the immediate aftermath of the fire, the building had been found to be crawling with Nazi Stormtroopers, who were supposed to have spread the fire so quickly, and, implausibly, hung around to watch it burn. Delmer, under his cover as a reporter in that period before open conflict between Britain and Germany, asserts that he entered the building in the wake of Hitler and his entourage as soon as the fire was under control, and that there were no Stormtroopers in evidence.

None of the Communists’ efforts to capitalize on the event  mattered, either, because Hitler and Goering, his adroit propaganda minister, successfully used the event to persuade the Germans to give the Nazis extraordinary authority over them — only for the duration of the emergency, of course – which his party used to round up the Communists and any other opposing political leadership, and to curtail free speech and opposition political activity nation-wide.

Hitler only had to invoke the Germans’ historic animosity toward Russia to justify his “conclusion” that the Soviet Communist political apparatus was on the verge of attempting a coup d’état. That van der Lubbe was a different brand of Communist – one with lasting hostility toward the Soviets – mattered not at all. The Germans reacted by allowing Hitler to stage his own coup d’état, without firing a shot. The Third Reich, and the War of Revenge, The Great Patriotic War, or World War II — depending on the version of history by which you choose to describe it – followed shortly.

History, as is often repeated, has a way of repeating itself. If the history presented by Mr. Delmer is accurate, one man, a small cadre, a group of government agents or, say, some “community organizers” could light the American Reichstag Fire, if the benefits seem to outweigh the risks, or – just for a bit of evil fun. The key factor in the succession of events isn’t the exact nature of the initial act, but the reaction to it by authority, and the willingness of the media to question or swallow the “official” explanation that best fits the political agenda.

With people such as Rahm Emanuel in positions of influence in the Obama White House, it’s unlikely that Emanuel’s maxim that, “[y]ou never want a serious crisis to go to waste” would be ignored for long.

All it takes is a crisis – real, imagined or staged. Is our Reichstag Fire smoldering at this moment?

Does it even have to be a “man-made disaster? Nope. How about a natural one that affects most of the country, like a New Madrid earthquake that crumbles every bridge over the Mississippi, or a huge solar flare that wipes out the national electrical infrastructure? Neither event would be unprecedented. Nature has served this continent both dishes before.

And, if nature won’t step up and provide a “serious crisis,” how about the Iranians, with their “peaceful” nuclear power, that, for some reason, requires the parallel development of Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles (IRBMs)? Those wacky, nuclear North Koreans can’t be counted out, either.

If so, then what?

Glenn, Rush and Sean will disappear from the airwaves, and we “sick, twisted freaks” will be on our own.

The Obama goons will exert whatever power they have, and the competing factions among them (Brotherhood Muslims vs. Communists vs. Old Left vs. Black Muslims vs. foreign agents and sleeper cells, etc…) will jump at the chance to flex their muscles, jockeying for position, with one eye on owning the ruins when the smoke clears.

The First Tuesday after the First Monday in November is right around the corner.  Will we have an election?

It forces one to think the unthinkable, doesn’t it?

A Kinder, Gentler Martial Law

May 29, 2012
A kindler, gentler martial Law

GOP senators have appealed to President Obama to soften the impact of martial law imposed before the national election.

Republican Senators Offer Alternative Plan for Martial Law

(Washington, October 29th, 2012)

In the wake of President Obama’s declaration of martial law last week, just weeks before the 2012 general election, moderate Senate Republicans have proposed some alternatives to the President’s executive orders authorizing indefinite detention without trial and civil asset forfeiture.

The measures were described as “draconian” by former talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who has not been heard from in several days. Senate Republicans Olympia Snow, John  McCain and minority leader Mitch McConnell came forward today with what they call “a reasonable alternative” to the emergency measures. They say they have met with Senators Harry Reid and Dick Durbin to negotiate the release on recognizance of several Republican senators, congressmen, and state governors, all of whom had been “very critical” of the emergency measures.

Senate Majority Leader McConnell spoke for the group:

“In this time of crisis, we must reach across the aisle to our colleagues and come to some sort of compromise on these executive orders. While we appreciate the urgency and severity of the situation that faces the President, we believe it is possible to deal with our unfortunate circumstances with a more moderate, measured approach.”

“We propose to allow those thousands of Americans being held incommunicado and without legal representation or charges being filed, to be released on their own recognizance from the detention camps around the country, after signing an agreement not to participate in political activity.

“They should be allowed to return to their homes, if they have not been demolished or re-assigned to needy immigrant families. They should wear a GPS-enabled house arrest ankle bracelet and keep authorities advised of their whereabouts at all times.

“Of course, we would expect the President’s National Stability Police Force to continue to hold anyone who is a real security threat, but we expect that such detainees would be tried and convicted or released within a reasonable period.”

Saying they were trying to reach missing Congressional colleagues to get a consensus in support of the compromise, McConnell expects to be allowed to meet with the President’s chief of staff to present the proposal “within the next few weeks.”

“Legalize it”? Maybe It’s Time.

Dried marijuana "bud," Courtesy of Wikipedia. NOT my photo! ("Eees no' mine!!")

Let’s just say I know enough about smoking marijuana (having been college-aged in the late 60’s) to know how apt is the term “wasted” in that context… but let’s also say that I could have passed a random, pop drug test any time over the last forty years, and I could do so at right this moment.

While I am not chomping at the bit for the legal right to hit the pot store on the way home from WalMart, it is hard NOT to see the cost of the “war on drugs” on our Constitutional rights. And, no, you don’t have to be a Paulistinian, or even a classical Libertarian to see it.

“]”]”

Would you trust your rights to "Good" Attorneys General -- Ashcroft (L) and Thornburgh (R)

”]”]”]”]If we give government the power to knock down doors without first serving a warrant, and to seize private property without due process or even criminal charges (among a host of abuses justified by the “War on Drugs,” not to mention the “War on Terror”), we are giving that power not just to a John Ashcroft or a Dick Thornburgh; we’re giving it to a Janet Reno and an Eric Holder. That’s not just stupid; it’s reckless and destructive.

What have we given up from the Bill of Rights, just to ignore the inherent evil of no-knock warrants and civil asset forfeiture? If a government acting in our best interests can abuse these procedures, what can a government that holds us in contempt do with them?

Legalizing marijuana would break away the current markets for marijuana from their very close relationship with the markets for heroin, cocaine, meth, hot guns, stolen property, prostitution, human and drug smuggling, terrorism, etc., draining tens or hundreds of millions of dollars from that income stream, and diverting it into taxable income streams. It would also unclog thousands of slots on pending court case calendars and empty prison and jail cells of people who otherwise wouldn’t be there, making room for the people who really should be locked up.

The statists graciously accept all our offers to surrender our rights for alleged safety or other benefits, regardless of the “war” allegedly being fought — drugs, poverty, terrorism, income inequality…

They know from history that such rights, once surrendered, are seldom restored, except by force and the spilling of lots of blood. At some point, it will be too late to get them back without that terrible cost.

We’re not there just yet, but we’re awfully close.

The Bin Laden Raid — the Real, Final, Official Version

May 4, 2011

He's dead. Really. Probably. Or not.

The mainstream media have been frustrated in their efforts to report the most Obama-friendly version of events in the raid that resulted in the death (or not) of U/Osama bin Laden in Pocky-Stawn.

The media frustration results from the inability of the Obama administration to report a version of the story that remains uncontradicted for more than four hours.

I am offering this account in an effort to relieve the media from that frustration. I’m here to help.

Okay, here goes:

The Special Operations Group SEAL Team Six attacked the compound from helicopters, and encountered or did not encounter small arms fire in resistance. The Pocky-Stawni government did or did not know about the six years of bin Laden’s presence in the compound, and was or was not consulted before and/or after the raid as to the reason and extent thereof.

Bin Laden did or did not resist, with or without the firearms he did or did not have, and used or did not use one of his wives, or perhaps a daughter, as a human shield.

His body was or was not removed from the scene, along with computer hard drives and thumb drives, which had a treasure trove, or not, of intelligence value.

Intelligence gleaned or not gleaned from “enhanced interrogation techniques” in secret prisons over the last several years, was essential or was not used at all, or was just part of a wondrous mosaic of information, used to set up the raid and execute it over the span of less than an hour.

Bin Laden’s body was disposed of at sea twelve hours later, in a ceremony that either was or was not in conformity with Islamic laws regarding the disposal of dead muslims, because bin Laden was, or was not, a muslim.

Photos of the dead terrorist icon’s body will or will not be released to the public, because the release of said photos would either foment or prevent violence in the muslim world against muslims, or non-muslims, or someone.

Bin Laden, who was either dead years ago from kidney failure, was killed a short time ago in a missile attack, was killed in a firefight or unarmed, on sight, or wasn’t there at all, or has never existed, is expected to serve as a rallying symbol for terrorists everywhere, or as an example of what happens to terrorists if they don’t mend their ways.

PLEASE NOTE: Members of the media are cautioned to pay close attention to Obama administration press conferences, photo opportunities and talk show appearances over the next several weeks while material facts and details of these events evolve, revolve, appear and disappear.

There I hope this helps.

Hey, House of Representatives! Impeach Obama, or Become Irrelevant

March 3, 2011
Smugobama

If you were assuming absolute power over the most powerful country on earth, you’d smile, too.

How bad a president does Obama have to be, before you think, “Could Joe Biden be any worse?”

Our (nominal) president refuses to present us with any verifiable documents from his early personal history, from birth through college.  We don’t know where he was born, when, or what his given name was, unless we accept his factually-challenged, vague and ghost-written “autobiography,” as the truth, and newspaper announcements and an after-the-fact “Certification of Live Birth” (as opposed to a certified birth certificate) that doesn’t name a hospital.

He allowed his Department of Justice to turn its back on an ironclad case of voter intimidation, because the intimidators were black. A DOJ investigator resigned and went on record as having been told that, while he was getting all the damning evidence of a crime that was needed to convict.

He and that same bunch of DOJ hacks have decided that the Defense of Marriage Act, a federal law enacted and signed during the Clinton years, is “unconstitutional,” and that they will not enforce it.

The legislative branch passed this law, as it is enabled to do by the constitution. The judicial branch reviewed the constitutionality of the law and passed on it, by which review it exercised its constitutional responsibility. The executive branch — whose chief executive is currently Barack Hussein Obama — acted completely outside its constitutionally-assigned role, in deciding not to enforce it.

This is nothing but a naked usurpation of power. The pattern of behavior of this president and his appointees is to make the executive branch supreme, and the constitution and the other two branches irrelevant.

If the Republican majority in the House of Representatives doesn’t file Impeachment charges against this power-hungry narcissist after all these blatant abuses, it will be choosing to become a puppet- show legislature, engaged in meaningless exercises in parliamentary sand-castle building.

And, it isn’t far from that now, is it?

The constitution, or whatever is left of it by the time the House discovers a backbone, specifies that, in the event the president is impeached or otherwise incapacitated, the vice president succeeds him. “President Joe Biden” is a scary thought, but not half as scary as letting this president continue to get his way.

SORRY, Internet Closed! NOW WHAT?

February 3, 2011

Who pulled the plug?

(Geekspeak Alert! Multiple occurrences of Information Technology jargon and abbreviations follow. Approach at your own risk.)

What if, what if, what if…? The recent discussion of the Egyptians’ reliance on the Internet for communication in their uprising, and of the “Internet Kill Switch” legislation in our own Congress, led me to thinking about preparedness in general, and emergency communication in particular.

The Internet has gone from an obscure fad to a virtual communication spinal cord in a couple of decades. It’s “the network of networks.” It’s “the cloud,” and the “information superhighway.” To some, it’s a free-flowing gutter; to others, it’s a lifeline to information, communication and entertainment they can’t imagine being without.

You are “plugged in,” to one degree or another, to that “cloud,” or you wouldn’t be reading this.

What if it went away?

Egypt did its best to shut off public access to the Internet when the rioting in Cairo began to turn into a revolt.

According to a TIME online story, what the Mubarak regime did was order the Internet Service Providers that serve Egypt to shut down their Domain Name Service (DNS servers). The article offers a capsule explanation of DNS:

When you open up your web browser and type a domain name into the address bar—say Time.com, for instance—your service provider sends a lightning-quick request to whichever service provider Time.com uses to make its web pages publicly available on the internet.

The computer that holds all of Time.com’s web pages sends a response back through its internet service provider basically saying, “Yes, we’re online. Here’s the web page you requested.”

That’s part of the story. The critical part of the DNS process is address translation. The Internet doesn’t know from www.yoursite.com. The DNS server converts the Universal Resource label (URL), the “human-friendly” name for the site you want to see, into an Internet Protocol (IP) address, which, for now, is a series of numbers and periods in the format ###.###.###. That is what really travels across town or around the world, to arrive at “www.yoursite.com.”

There’s a lesson, for you. If DNS service is down, you need a list of Internet Protocol addresses you can put into the address field of your browser to get to sites directly.

To get to my favorite Internet news site, World Net Daily, in the absence of DNS service, I simply put “70.85.95.100”(without the quotation marks) into my address field, and go there.

How did I find that out? I opened a command line window (I speak Windows; sorry, Apple and Linux speakers – you’re on your own) and ran the PING command using several of my most frequent browsing destinations.

Here’s an example of the PING command and its output, from my IP address gathering process:

C:\Documents and Settings\Tom Cox>ping drudgereport.com
Pinging drudgereport.com [209.234.251.93] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 209.234.251.93: bytes=32 time=105ms TTL=46
Reply from 209.234.251.93: bytes=32 time=113ms TTL=46
Reply from 209.234.251.93: bytes=32 time=112ms TTL=46
Reply from 209.234.251.93: bytes=32 time=111ms TTL=46
Ping statistics for 209.234.251.93:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
 Minimum = 105ms, Maximum = 113ms, Average = 110ms

The important information here isn’t the lousy ping times I get from my ISP, but the fact that when I enter the domain name — drudgereport.com in this case – (note the omission of “www” and the like), PING gives me the IP address, (209.234.251.93) it got from the DNS server I am currently connected to, which it uses to find the right server at the other end and measure the time required to get an acknowledgment.

Obviously, taking down the DNS service will impede access for those who don’t know how to get around it, but just as obviously, that is a porous barrier to the Internet. Not only can people who have stored their most-used IP addresses locally get through, but satellite-based ISPs, as well as any ISP who can be reached by dial-up, even in another hemisphere, can provide access, however slow and filtered that access may be. Any regime or force that wants to cut off Internet service completely, or at least much more completely than the Egyptian government did, has to take down wireline phone service, as well as cellular service, and jam satellite downlink frequencies.

The Internet is designed with “robustness” in mind, with multiple paths among connected nodes, and that makes an “Internet Kill Switch”more of a challenge than it may appear to be from a user’s perspective. (Thanks to Bruce Schneier, long-time Internet security and encryption expert)

If it were possible to take down the Internet in a given region, the results may be a classic, “be careful what you wish for” scenario. Governments that want to clamp down on the Internet may discover too late how dependent their own activities are on it. Will they be able to use government debit cards to refuel military vehicles? Will their air traffic control system’s communication network collapse? How about the electrical grid, public transportation, metropolitan traffic control systems, for starters – will a government that wants to enhance its grip on its population deliberately blind and deafen itself, just to silence social networks and news outlets?

Government suppression of the Internet may be the least of our concerns, in fact. We don’t even need our government to put the Internet at risk. Two other “actors” may be a lot more likely to succeed where governments fail: terrorists, and the sun.

All it will take is a little, tiny episode of solar flatulence, known scientifically as a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). The sun, notorious for its stubborn inclination to ignore and flaunt government regulations and environmentalist lobbying, is about due for another of its periodic episodes of instability. This instability includes a tendency to fling huge clouds of high-energy particles out from its nearly-endless supply of such materials.

A solar corona hole, February 3, 2011, courtesy http://www.spaceweather.com

Should our planet happen to be in the way of one of these clouds, the results will be spectacular and calamitous, but not unprecedented. As it passes through the cloud, the energy in the cloud will induce electric currents in any conductor, such as a power line or radio antenna, and the currents induced may be much greater than the conductor, and any connected equipment, can tolerate.

The earth itself will rattle with the shock of this blast of energy. A geomagnetic storm is a secondary effect of the CME. The earth’s magnetic field will ring like a bell, with effects on life and technology both known and unknown.

The history of these storms shows but a hint of the potential impact on the whole energy-transportation-communication-security-economy infrastructure.

This impact would not be an overnight phenomenon, but could bathe the earth in strong energy clouds for weeks or months. The associated Aurora displays might be spectacularly beautiful, but most of us will be too busy trying to survive the other effects to have much time top enjoy the show.

Ole’ Mom Nature and government shutdowns are not the only way uncontrollable forces can have a huge impact on the Internet and the rest of the infrastructure.  A small, but well-funded group of terrorists, or “axis of evil” agents, armed with a small nuclear weapon and a “SCUD” class, intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) can blind and cripple us, too.

SCUD on semi-trailer launcher, courtesy Wklipedia

A nondescript container ship could pull up off the Atlantic coast a hundred miles out from Washington DC, and launch a missile sold or donated by Russia, North Korea, Iran, or a non-state entity with lots of money. If the missile has a warhead consisting of, say, a refurbished Russian tactical nuclear warhead, furnished by the same thoughtful donor or another, or sold by some organized crime venture, the goal would be to detonate the missile not on or near the ground, as in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki attacks, but a hundred miles or so above Washington, or nearby.

The nuclear detonation, even resulting from a very small, “suitcase”-style weapon, would have the expected blast effects from heat and sudden pressure – although they would be diminished on the ground due to the high altitude of the detonation — but it would also create a huge, sharp electromagnetic pulse (EMP). Before discounting the possibly existence of nuclear warheads small enough to launch above a SCUD-sized IRBM, recall that both the Russians and Americans developed and built thousands of nuclear artillery shells, one of which was successfully test-fired and detonated.

The upper atmosphere would interact with the pulse to create a huge, secondary pulse that would spread over an area of hundreds, or thousands, of square miles. There would be instant and dramatic effects on anything electrical for hundreds or thousands of miles in any direction. The impulse would be far stronger than a CME-induced surge, but lasting only a fraction of a second. The effect, though, would last for months, or years, in terms of its effect on the nation.

The effect on a society as dependent on electricity and electronics as ours, would be devastating, and that is not just the apocalyptic fantasy of a few catastrophe freaks and post-apocalypse survival enthusiasts. Credible groups have testified before Congress on the potential effects of such an attack, but with little apparent impact on our national priorities.

Nightmarish scenarios exist, such as a novel by a historian named William Forstchen, One Second After.

There is considerable disagreement as to the scientific and technical accuracy of the novel’s predictions, as one can see in the extended discussion of the book on Amazon, but not much disagreement that the effects will be severe and long-lasting. As long as the Internet stays up, you can learn more about EMP in its various forms at EMPact America, http://www.empactamerica.org/

Whether the cause of the outage is government action, terrorism or solar storms, doing without the Internet is

What’s a communication-dependent technophile to do? Do you carry a spare tire in your car? Why? The odds of a flat in the middle of nowhere are low, but the repercussions are severe – what disaster prep strategists refer to as a “low probability, high consequences event.”

Technophiles are smart to be ready with multiple options for communications, to fit the circumstances. Dead cell phone battery? Where’s your crank-up charger? Power out for an extended period? Cable system, wireline phone system, and cell service down? Where’s your CB radio, your GMRS/FRS portable radio set, your crystal radio, complete with rolled-up, ready-to-launch wire antenna, your HF ham radio and accessories, your fire starting kit, your wood stove, your bottled water, your toilet paper, your emergency food, your maps, your compass, your handgun, your rifle, your ammunition…

From a dead DNS server to the collapse of civil society and enemy attack – you can be a victim, or you can be prepared.

Hamas-linked CAIR to Muslims: Pat yourselves down in airport security checks

Hamas-linked CAIR to Muslims: Pat yourselves down in airport security checks

CAIR wants muslim women in veils to offer to “pat themselves down” to satisfy the TSA at the airport.

If the TSA goes for this exception — and who will be surprised if they do — it will validate my suspicion that the “enhanced” security measures have less to do with security than with conditioning the traveling public to being treated like presumptive criminals, stripped of dignity, privacy and any sense of their bodies as their own property.

This will make them fit better into the brave new world Dear Leader has in mind for us.

Muslims, like socialists and communists, are already collectivists with a diminished sense of personal sovereignty, and thus, already are a better fit in the new order. Thus, they will get a pass, although it is temporary.

Eventually, Marx and Lenin have to step into the ring with Allah and Mohammed, and decide once and for all which religion will run the world… until then, muslims get a pass.
